This Rainbow label remained until Capitol changed its design in 1969 in favour of the green target label (see LP.CATA.5.1).
Pressing Information
As was the case for previous variations, Capitol of Canada subcontracted once again the RCA pressing plant in Smith Falls (Ontario), this time to manufacture new batches of albums with the new "brackets" label.
LP.CATA.2.1 has markings as follows:
Side 1: XXXXXX
Side 2: XXXXXX
These pressings feature a 70 mm deep-groove pressing ring, a hallmark of early RCA Canadian manufacture. Labels feature the "brackets" rainbow label (see perimeter print at the bottom of the label: "Manufactured in Canada by Capitol Records (Canada)" with added brackets around the word CANADA.
Cover
The cover of this variation is identical to the previous variations (LP.CATA.XX), printed by Parr's Litho, with a straight 10 mm inner seam construction.
The cover construction is identical to all previous variations, with a front slick construction.
Packaging
This rainbow brackets edition was shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without the newer red and white "ATTENTION / CAUTION" Capitol / Pathe paper LP inner sleeve.
