A Hard Day's Night Variations List

A Hard Day's Night
(US Format)

8T.3006.UA2.2 | United Artist
BLACK shell ONE slick (1970-1978)

8T.3006.UA2.2 features the same updated design and the same new type of cartridge as 8T.3006.UA2.1, but features a BLACK shell. This reissue uses the more common "single slick" construction, and features a yellow vertical band on the right side, as well as the new block logo. This reissue therefore has the less rounded shell design with a recognizable metal rivet on the back side.

Availability

8T.3006.UA2.2 would have been available starting in 1970, until (theoretically)1978 when Capitol gained the rights to the album (but never reissued it on this format).

General Information

This black shell variation appeared in 1970 and was the most common version found intil the mid 1970s. It is relatively common today.

Pressing Information

This "pressing" is dentical to the previous variation, except for its common black shell replacing the white shell found on early pressings.

Cover and packaging

There is no known cardboard cover or slipcase prepared for this tape. It is probably that United Artists used a generic Carboard slip case instead, but this needs to be confirmed.
