A Hard Day's Night
(US Format)
8T.3006.UA2.1 | United Artist
White shell ONE slick (circa 1970)
8T.3006.UA2.1 features a new updated design as well as a new type of cartridge. This reissue uses the more common "single slick" construction, and features a yellow vertical band on the right side, as well as the new block logo. Early pressings still used white shells (this variation), but this was short-lived and was quickly changed to the more common black shell version (see next entry). This reissue also changed its shell type for a less rounded design with a recognizable metal rivet on the back side.
Availability
8T.3006.UA2.1 would have been available for a short time early when the design has changed around 1970. It was quickly changed to the black shell version.
General Information
This white shell variation would have appeared early in 1970 but was short-lived, before being changed to the more common black shell version. It is still pretty scarce today.
Pressing Information
This "pressing" was released around 1970 and could have theoretically been available only for a few months when the black shell was introduced (see next entry).
This new shell format was different from Capitol releases, as it was also prepared by Compo who selected a different supplier. These UA shells have a less rounded shape, a different "hole" on the back side and features a distinctive metal rivet that is not found on Capitol tapes.
Cover and packaging
There is no known cardboard cover or slipcase prepared for this tape. It is probably that United Artists used a generic Carboard slip case instead, but this needs to be confirmed.
