LP.11921.11.1 | Purple 3rd generation
Capitol pressing

LP.11921.11.1 was released on the third generation purple label in late 1980. This pressing is almost identical to LP.11921.10.1, but the label perimeter text has been changed to "Distributed in Canada Under License By Capitol Records" in a thinner font.

Availability

This variation was available between late 1980 and 1983 (for approximately three years). This pressing is relatively common.

General Information

This pressing variation is the most common Capitol pressing of the album. Capitol pressed these records on regular thick vinyl (not like th thin Dynaflex records).

Pressing Information

This pressing was also manufactured at Capitol's pressing plant in Mississauga, Ontario. These pressings can be identified by the medium size (39 mm) pressing ring, characteristic of Capitol pressings.

Side A: SW-1-11921 F4. Wally
Side B: SW-2-11921 F4. Wally

The Wally marking indicates the lacquer was cut at Capitol by Wally Traugott.

Even though the rights had changed hands and Capitol prepared a brand new master, the original "fake stereo" mixes were still used on these new releases. Only the George Martin instrumentals were in true stereo.

Cover

This Capitol reissue features the same cover as the previous variation, with the Capitol dome logo added to the top left of the front cover, while the back cover legal information shows the Capitol / EMI information. This Ever Reddy cover also used a similar posterboard construction.

Packaging

This edition was shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without a rounded paper LP inner sleeve. These Capitol sleeves have a large flap on the bottom and side.
